Calculation of telecentric range - Telecentric lenses

This tool can be used to estimate the depth of field and telecentric range. However, these formulas are only approximate equations, since the depth of field depends on the magnification, aperture and required resolution, and thus on the requirements of the application.
Both the depth of field and the telecentric range must be sufficiently large. The depth of field depends mainly on the aperture, the telecentric range on the telecentric error.

Telecentric Lenses - Calculating Telecentric Range and Depth of Field

Note: Even when using the drop-down lists own values can be entered. Please use the first entry "user def."!

Note 1: Depth of field specifications on Opto Engineering data sheets are based on pixel sizes with 5.5 µm and an "acceptable" blur. According to the manufacturer, these values should be halved for very sharp images. This corresponds to the values calculated by Vision-Doctor for a "very sharp image".

Note 2: Depth of field specifications on data sheets from Vico Imaging are based on pixel sizes of around 4.9 to 5µm. Depths of field are given there by the manufacturer for f/11, for example, the lenses are equipped with wider open apertures (e.g. 4.9) in the series version. With the help of this calculation tool you can easily calculate the real values.
