Calculating the data rate of area scan cameras

The required bandwidth of the interface depends on the resolution, number of cameras and captured images per second and the bit depth of the data format.
Typical for monochrome cameras is a data rate of 8 bits = 1 byte, if 10 or 12 bits of image information are transferred, 2 bytes are effectively used for the transmission of data.
Colour cameras can transmit RGB colour images with a data depth of 24 bits, in case of the YUV-coded variant 16 bits (2 bytes) and as Bayer raw data image only 8 bits (1 byte).
